Sentrax GmbH develops advanced hardware and software solutions for real-time location systems (RTLS), enabling precise positioning and tracking of objects across various industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, and smart buildings. The startup was founded in 2022 by Yusuf Sabadia and is based at Technopark Luzern. Yusuf, how did you come up with the idea to found Sentrax? In previous professional positions, I repeatedly experienced how important precise location systems are in environments where GPS doesn't work – such as in factory halls or hospitals. There, devices and assets move across multiple stations, and precise tracking is essential. My interest in sensor technology and real-time location has accompanied me for a long time. I previously co-founded a similar company in the Emirates and bring extensive experience in developing and marketing hardware and software products. What exactly does Sentrax offer? We offer a real-time location system consisting of a software platform and hardware components. Our solution can connect to third-party systems like ERP systems and combines state-of-the-art RTLS technology with versatile applications. Our main products include scanners and locators, for example an Indoor Locator & Gateway based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) technology. Additionally, we have hybrid beacons and tags that enable precise location of people and objects using various technologies. The SOLIX platform serves as the management system, available as API, on-premise, or cloud version. We also offer evaluation kits developed for testing and implementation. In which areas do your solutions find application? In healthcare, they enable real-time tracking of patients and medical devices. In manufacturing, they are used for 3D inventory tracking and evacuation management. In smart buildings, they serve indoor navigation and emergency management. How does your main product stand out? Our main product is the locator, which can locate objects with an accuracy of up to 20 cm. What's special about it is our own algorithm that works very precisely. Worldwide, there are only four companies offering comparable technology – we are the only ones in Switzerland. Our system is modularly expandable and can integrate various sensors, such as for air quality measurement or presence detection. This saves costs especially in hospitals because only one device is needed instead of many separate sensors. What fascinates you about your work? I'm excited by the challenge of marketing innovative products internationally and combining hardware with software. Developing new technologies and adapting them to different markets is incredibly exciting. Where do you distribute your products? We work with system providers and system integrators. They use our solutions either as an extension of their existing platform or as standalone network installations. We rely on a partner network of 10 to 20 companies in Europe and worldwide. How long is the delivery time? Larger projects have a delivery time of about four weeks. We produce on demand. A hospital needs between 2,000 and 10,000 tags, for example, to capture all devices. Are your products certified? Yes, our products meet the required standards. We have CE certification (Conformité Européenne) for the European market and FCC certification (Federal Communications Commission) for the US market. Where does Sentrax currently stand? We have built a solid foundation over the past three years. Our products are market-ready, and the soft launch already began in the second quarter of 2024. Currently, five potential customers are testing our solutions. Such processes typically take six to nine months in our industry. In parallel, we're building the sales pipeline and regularly receive new inquiries. Our goal is to achieve 50 percent of our revenue in Europe medium-term. How is Sentrax financed? So far, I have financed the entire company myself. Now I'm specifically looking for investors to drive scaling. We are in a late-seed phase and are open to strategic partners or pure financial investors. What do you like about Technopark Luzern? The Technopark offers flexible infrastructure and an inspiring environment. The exchange with other startups is valuable, and the central location is a great advantage.
